Time to celebrate as a Living Wage Employer!
We started small as a family but as business blossomed, so did our employees!
We are super pleased to have been awarded this status. The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living and we ensure that everyone working with us receive a minimum hourly wage of £10.90, significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £10.42 per hour.
We are committed to ensuring that the whole team, as individuals, are treated equally, fairly and with the respect that they all deserve as great human beings - we may be bias but they are all pretty great 🥰
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Westmorland Sheepskins has joined the movement of over 12,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
Based in Yorkshire and the Humber, the UK region with the highest proportion of non-Living Wage jobs in the country (15.8%), with over 368,000 jobs paying less than the real Living Wage. Despite this, Westmorland Sheepskins has committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work."
We want to thank our small but mighty team for their support and hard work within our little business in this corner of Yorkshire 🤍
